Dress For Physical Activity
· Students are required to change from “school clothes” to “gym clothes” for physical education. *Students should not be wearing gym clothes under school clothes or school clothes under gym clothes.
· PE attire should consist of a t-shirt and appropriate length shorts. Sweatshirts and sweatpants/wind-pants are also acceptable. · We will adhere to the KGMS dress code found in the student agenda when it comes to dress for physical education. *If a students’ attire does not meet requirements, students will be asked to change. · An optional PE uniform will be available to purchase for $15.00/set. · Students must wear athletic sneakers and socks. · Jewelry/key chains should not be worn as it can be potentially dangerous. Student Participation · All students enrolled in physical education class are required to participate. · A doctor’s note is needed if a student cannot participate for three or more school days during a grading period. · All students not participating in physical education for any reason will be required to complete various written assignments. Physical Fitness Testing · Students will be tested for physical fitness/wellness three times during the school year. These are benchmark tests for physical education. · Students will participate in conditioning exercises and activities to help improve test scores throughout the school year. Grading Failure to dress out, lack of participation/effort, any unexcused tardy to class will result in a point deduction. Additionally, students will be graded on tests and quizzes in Health. Students must bring their own clothes for PE. Purchasing a gym uniform is optional Point Deductions for Failing to Dress Out * 1st offense: -20 points + written work * 2nd offense:-30 points + written work and parent notification form sent home * 3rd offense: -50 points + written work and parent contact (email/phone call) * 4th and subsequent offense(s):-100 points and BDF Points May also be Deducted for the Following: * Not seated when buzzer sounds to start class. (- 10 points) * Not properly participating in warm-up exercises . (-10 points) * Not properly participating in conditioning exercises. (-10 points) * Not properly participating in daily activity (-10 to –50 points) |
PE CLASS RULES
- Please place all books, book bags, etc. in your class’ assigned area on the bleachers.
·Change from school clothes into appropriate gym clothes. You have 5 minutes to change clothes, exit the locker room and be seated in role line. · You will be assigned a locker. Place your belongings in your locker and LOCK THE LOCKER!!! PE dept. is not responsible for belongings that are not secured in locker. · KEEP YOUR COMBINATION TO YOURSELF!!! · If you share your combo, you have compromise the safety of the items in your locker and the PE department cannot be responsible for your belongings. · Use the restroom at the beginning and/or end of class. · After coming out of the locker room, sit in your assigned spot on the blue line for attendance. · When the whistle blows, you will have 30 seconds to be seated in exercise line. · Always participate with safety in mind. · Always be in your assigned area. · At the end of class, change back into school clothes from PE clothes. · Wait in assigned area to be dismissed. · Use PE equipment only when given permission to do so. · No food, gum or candy allowed in the gym. -Water is the only beverage allowed. · The use of any/all soda/snack machines is PROHIBITED not only during class but during the school day. · Disruptive or disorderly conduct will be addressed according to the student code of conduct. · Please keep cell phones in your hall locker and leave I Pods/MP3 players at home. · Any combination lock not returned at the end of the school year will incur a $6.00 charge. Health · Students rotate between PE and Health. The rotation is 3 weeks of PE and 1 week of Health. · Students will need a pen or pencil as well as a 2-pocket folder (with brads) and writing paper. · Students will have access to textbooks in the classroom each day and the textbook is also accessible online. Tardy Students * 1st tardy-warning from teacher. * 2nd tardy-parent notification form * 3rd tardy-conference with student, teacher and parent * 4th tardy or more–office referral |
